かみす神栖市の概要平成17年8月1日に誕生した神栖市。茨城県の東南端に位置し、東側は太平洋に、南側・西側は利根川を経て千葉県に、北西側は鹿嶋市および潮来市に接した南北に長い形状をしています。市の北東部一帯は鹿島港および鹿島臨海工業地帯が整備され、製造品出荷額は茨城県第1位で国内屈指の工業地帯です。また、温暖な気候を生かしたピーマンは全国第1位の出荷量を誇ります。南部は波崎漁港を中心に漁業が盛んで水産加工品などが特産品となっています。また、神栖市は東京から100キロメートル圏内、成田国際空港から約30キロメートルの距離にあります。平成27年に東関東自動車道と常磐自動車道が圏央道により結ばれたことで、さらにアクセスが充実しました。はさき●1●●若松緑地鹿島灘若松運動場●●ウチワサボテン群生地Profile of Kamisu CityKamisu City was born on August 1, 2005. Located in the southeastern corner of Ibaraki Prefecture,the city stretches from north to south and is bounded on the east by the Pacific Ocean, on thesouth and west by the Tone River and Chiba Prefecture, and on the northwest by the citiesof Kashima and Itako. The belts in the city’s northern and eastern sections include the Port ofKashima and the Kashima Coastal Industrial Zone. This is one of Japan’s leading industrial areasand the value of goods shipped from here is the highest of any port in Ibaraki.Taking advantage of the city’s warm climate, Kamisu farmers grow and ship more bell peppersthan anywhere else in Japan. In the southern part of the city is the Hasaki Fishing Port, wherebountiful catches of fish are brought in to be turned into specialty marine products. Kamisuis located within a 100 km radius of Tokyo, and is only about 30 km from Narita InternationalAirport.
